Roadway signage in Phoenix

The Rob Dollar Foundation regularly connects with the City of Phoenix, sharing input for improving cycling safety on our roadways.  Our most exciting accomplishment thus far is the development of legally enforceable signage informing motorists that 3 feet of clearance to cyclists is the law.  The cycling community and the city worked together to identify 'safety hot spots' locations for sign placement.  The City of Phoenix installations has inspired the Town of Gilbert to follow suit and other cities as well. We are in the process of having the sign MUTCD approved to allow more cities to place the signs up around Arizona.

SHARE THE ROAD LICENSE PLATE

In 2018, the Rob Dollar Foundation partnered with another local non-profit, Uphill Into the Wind, to bring Arizona the first “Share the Road” specialty license plate. Profits from the sales of the license plate go towards hosting free safety classes in the community and fund something we are very proud to offer:  the RAD Scholarship.

Free Bike Safety Courses

The Rob Dollar Foundation and local bike safety experts host an annual free bike safety course at the Rob Dollar Ride event.  We also host bicycle safety courses at various schools.  Each course provides a free helmet and/or light to the participants.  To learn more about these courses or if your school would like to host one of our safety events, please reach out to John Hogen by clicking the button below.
